Exclusive wine experiences at Château Clerc Milon in Bordeaux, France

Ideally located between two first growths, Château Clerc Milon
is considered a gem of French winemaking and architecture.

Activities

“A legendary terroir, prestigious neighbors, and a providential encounter”

The history and the success of Château Clerc Milon are summed up in these three words:

- The terroir is that of Pauillac, where some of the world’s finest wines are made.

- The neighbors are Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Lafite Rothschild, illustrious First Growths whose nearby vines can be seen from the terrace of the Château.

- The encounter was with Baron Philippe, who in 1970 acquired the then badly neglected estate and decided to restore it to its status as a Classified Growth. Now, thanks to Baroness Philippine, Clerc Milon, one of the most highly regarded châteaux in the Bordeaux region, can boast technical facilities and reception areas worthy of its reputation.

Close to the Gironde, its soil consists of deep sandy gravel over a clay-limestone base that outcrops in the eastern part of the estate. The 40 hectares (99 acres) of vines, with an average age of 53 years, are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenere.

On Baroness Philippine’s initiative, Clerc Milon was entirely redesigned and rebuilt by Richard Peduzzi and Bernard Mazières in 2011.

Its stainless-steel gravity-feed vat room, its surprising half-underground barrel hall and its light, airy reception rooms are housed in a building in the form of a temple with ipe wood cladding, whose pediment and vast terrace look out over the vines. The electric supply is provided by photovoltaic cells.

Powerful, fruity and harmoniously full-bodied, Château Clerc Milon is a wine with long aging potential that now enjoys considerable success.
