Our guide : Beaune wine tasting

Beaune is an incredibly important area in the wine region of Burgundy. In fact, it gives its name to the Côte de Beaune in the southern section of the Côte d’Or region.

A wine tasting in Beaune in France is surely going to include Burgundian Pinot Noirs, as Beaune produces some of the most famous ones in the world, in addition to a small quantity of Chardonnay. In the last few years though, to meet the increasing demand of white wine, production has gone up significantly.

This wine region is so popular that its name was at one point generically used for multiple wine regions in Burgundy. After regularizing the appellation system, only those wines produced in the Beaune region can use the Beaune AOC title.

The Hospices de Beaune

The wine growers and producers of Beaune host an annual charity function called the Hospices de Beaune, an incredibly important and celebrated function. Apart from being a tradition being carried out since 1859, this event has been known to define the prices for the current vintage in the Beaune region. This event takes place on the third Sunday of November. All profits go to the Hospices and their work.

So, whether you are after a wine tasting in Beaune, you want to explore its world-famous climats of Beaune, which have an unusually high proportion of Premier-Cru classified vineyards, or simply enjoy some of the best wines France has to offer, then Beaune should certainly rank high up on your list.

Since Beaune is a lot more developed than its counterparts in the Burgundy wine region and it is very well connected to the major cities in the area including Dijon, wine tours and tastings from Dijon can be easily arranged by contacting our local travel expert.
