Day 1
Day one is a wine collectors dream, as we join the exclusive Don Melchor experience, and learn how the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alto Maipo Valley is made. Enjoy typical Chilean dishes and check in to Casa Real, the Historic Casona refurbished as an exclusive wine lodge in the extensive grounds of Viña Santa Rita.
Morning pick up from your hotel and drive one hour southwest of the city, to the peaceful town of Pirque.
Our visit begins with a walk through the grounds surrounding the Concha y Toro founder's summer home. The beautiful 22-hectare park was designed by French landscape architect Guillaume Renner and contains numerous century-old species imported from around the world.
The Don Melchor Casona (manor house) will open its doors, and your host will share the story of the different rooms, which maintain their original 19th-century style. After learning about the history of Don Melchor de Concha y Toro and his family, we invite you to taste Don Melchor, the wine.
The tasting will begin with a selection of wines from different parcels of the Puente Alto terroir that go into Don Melchor. Each expresses the diversity of the vineyard and contributes its own distinct characteristics which together create the complexity found in every bottle of this iconic wine.
You will then enjoy the vintage of Don Melchor that is currently available on the market.
Finally, we visit the Don Melchor Collection room, which houses every vintage of Don Melchor from 1987 to the present.
Following a short transfer, you will enjoy a lunch of typical Chilean dishes in Majadas de Pirque historic grounds.
Later on, check in at Casa Real. - a grand estate from house from the late 1800s that was converted in 1996 into a beautiful hotel. T
he Pompeian estate house has sixteen cozy rooms, matching modern comfort with vintage.
Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or walking the old Hacienda´s extensive gardens, which have been declared a national historic monument.
