With your wine expert you will leave this morning for a discovery tour of the Cote de Beaune Wine region.
You will explore the Burgundy historical “terroir” and discover the stories & secrets that are behind the label of each winemaker whilst taking in the stunning views. The Burgundy ‘terroir’ was listed in 2015 by Unesco as world heritage.
The first stop will be at the Domaine Prosper Maufoux in the town of Santenay.
The skills and know-how at Prosper Maufoux have been at the service of a wide range of Burgundian appellations since 1860. Their wines are matured in oak barrels the age, origin and toast of which are meticulously combined and adapted to the origin of the grapes and the vintage. The wines repose in their vaulted cellars for 12 to 18 months; a wonderful setting in which they can fulfil their potential.
You will then drive through the vineyards to the village of Chassagne-Montrachet where you will explore the family owned property: Chateau de Chassagne. You will see the very impressive 11th & 14th century cellars as well as the vat room before a tasting during which your guide will explain the origins of the appellation & the specific winemaking methods.
