There is something very special about the Loire Valley of France. You can see it in the breathtaking landscape, the people, the food and of course, the wine. It is a beautiful region with villages, vineyards and Chateaux to explore.
We invite you to experience the Loire Valley wines through Behind the Vines, a wine tasting experience that takes you on a journey to a privately owned 17th century Chateau with the opportunity to tast unique local wines with a Wine Master.
Commencing at 5pm sharp at Chateau De Jalesnes, the Chateau owners will meet and greet you in their grand salon with a local sparkling wine from Ackerman vineyards, once the owners of this very Chateau. They will give you a talk on the history of the Chateau and how it has evolved over the centuries to the unique 5-star boutique hotel it now is. Be absorbed in the specular architecture and history of the families who once lived, prospered, faltered and prospered again in this storied building. Learn first of the renovations that brought this beautiful building back to her past glory.
You will then be seated in the Chateau's lounge room next to a crackling fire place in the warmer months or you can feel the fresh breeze through the open doors in summer. Your Wine Master will then talk to you about the local wine region with a taste of six different wines and a share platter of fresh cheeses and delights. In this discussion, you will learn about the different senses you can use to get the full aroma and taste of wine while being able to decipher between young and aged wines. The activity concludes at 7:30pm with a taste of a local sweet liquor and petite pastries to finish off the experience.
Afterwards, you can opt to extend your experience and stay at the wonderful Château De Jalesnes for a gourmet dinner and a relaxing sleep in one of our large Suites to get the full Chateau experience.
