Your invitation for a journey through the ages

Bespoke winery in the heart of Provence, France

The Domaine de Fontenille enjoys exceptional terroir. The vines draw their strength from the clay, limestone and stony soil. The slightly steep slopes provide perfect exposure to sunshine and excellent water drainage, and the provençal mistral naturally cleans the grapes.

Activities

Domaine de Fontenille is one of the oldest wineries of Luberon area and have been producing wine without interruption for almost 400 years. Founded in 1637 with only 12 hectares of vines, the vineyard was grown and developed century upon century, reaching 40 hectares in the late 90's.

In 2013, half of the vineyard’s surface was replanted and the conversion to organic farming started. In 2015, a new winery was born, and new winegrowing and winemaking machines were introduced. Modern tools are now used to assist with traditional methods of grape growing and and wine production, with the overall goal always being to have a natural process from vine to glass.

The winery offers several activities around wine tourism:

  • Wine tasting during opening hours.
  • Tour of the winery and private tasting.
  • Tour of the vineyard and picnic by our chief.
  • Blend tasting to create your wine and sign your labels !
  • Morning harvests (only available from mid-September to mid-October)
  • Local seasonal and organic products, wine accessories.
