What is La Cité du Vin?

This very unique wine museum that opened in June 2016 offers visitors the opportunity to embark on an immersive, sensory adventure to discover the world of wine through different cultures and civilisations.

The museum represents all wine producing countries from all over the world - from Georgia (the first wine producing country in the world) to new world wines such as Argentina or Australia, as well unexpected countries such as Ireland!

The permanent tour will take you on a voyage of discovery in a 3000m² space with 20 different themed areas. At the end of the tour, head to the Belvedere on the 8th floor and taste a glass of world wine as you admire the 360° view over Bordeaux.

Do not miss the multi sensory workshop which will take you on a tour of food markets all over the world. Enjoy the smells and the sounds of local traditions as you taste one of the wines from the country.

Les Halles de Bacalan

At the end of the visit, we offer the possibility to explore another market this time in Bordeaux! Cross the street and stop at Les Halles de Bacalan - a newly renovated farmers market where local producers are eager to let you taste their specialties. Move from stand to stand - taste and enjoy the local gourmet specialities as you go! A very special and authentic moment!
