Experience the charming town of Amboise in a fun & eco-friendly way

Theme : Adventure & Sports Duration : From 1 to 3 hours Groups : No

It is often said that Amboise has the most Italian flair of all the Loire Valley cities. The presence of many tourists from the other side of the Alps is a cheerful reminder of what the Italian Renaissance brought to the area five centuries ago. Amboise is a serene, easygoing town, true to the image of splendour that characterised that blessed era. Pedestrians will appreciate the shopping areas as well as the esplanades located along the riverbanks of the Loire, the best place to take in fantastic views of the river. Must-see attractions in the area include the royal castle, Clos-Lucé (where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last days), and the Chanteloup pagoda. The city is also home to one of the largest markets in the area, every Friday and Sunday morning.

You will meet with your guide at the foot of the Chateau of Amboise, along the Loire river. After your instructor tells you how to ride a Segway, you will depart for a tour of the town. You will get to see the Château du Clos Lucé, which is known for being the last mansion where Leonardo da Vinci lived. Then, and without even feeling it, you will go up the hills to have unrestricted views over the Loire river and its surroundings. By going down the slope, you will be surprised by the innumerable houses that were dug in the rock. These astonishing troglodyte constructions are facing the Loire River. If you feel comfortable enough, your guide will show you the way to the “Ile d’Or”. From this tiny island, you will see the close chateau of Amboise from a new angle. In the city-center of Amboise, you will go to a tasting at a local “chocolaterie”.

At the end of the tour, you will stop for lunch at a local bistro that is facing the Chateau d’Amboise.
