Sicily is the largest Mediterranean island. It offers incredible scenery -think pristine beaches, towering mountains and active volcanoes- and a wealthy cultural heritage. Some of its most famous sites include the Valley of the Temples, the well-preserved ruins of 7 Doric-style Greek temples, and the Byzantine mosaics at Cappella Palatina, a former royal chapel in the capital city Palermo. Sicily is also home to Mount Etna, one of Europe’s highest active volcanoes.

Choose the itinerary that better suits you and leave the rest with us! A memorable cycling adventure awaits!

Itinerary 1: Sport – with road bikes – 55 km

You will be picked up from the Siracusa harbor and transferred to the departure point for cycling. You will start cycling just outside of Siracusa to avoid the traffic of the city. Once you have left the city, the tour will pass by the small village of Solarino in the direction of Anapo Valley on rolling hills. After about 20 km, you will encounter a challenging 5km-long climb with hairpin curves up to Sortino, where you will stop to rest. From Sortino, you will ride on the crest of the Sicani mountain. Along this ride, you will enjoy beautiful views of coastal Siracusa. Then, you will begin a fast descent, again with hairpin curves, back down to the Anapo river bridge to return to Siracusa.

Depending on your fitness level, this itinerary will take 2 to 3 hours of biking with the possibility to stop at the Anapo Valley (Necropolis of Pantalica) and Sortino.

Itinerary 2: Leisure – with city/trekking bikes – 36 km

You will be picked up from the Siracusa harbor and transferred to Palazzolo Acreide (45 min drive), where you will start cycling to reach Testadell’Acqua. Then, you will continue further down to the Monastery of Madonna della Scala through the breathtaking landscape of the Iblei Mountains. After passing the Salitello bridge, you will arrive in Noto Antica (the ancient town of Noto destroyed by the tremendous 1693 earthquake). From there, you will ride down to the modern city of Noto, “Jewel of Stone", a masterpiece of architecture and bright example of the most beautiful Sicilian baroque architecture. Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel in Siracusa.

This tour is 2 – 3 hours of relaxed biking with enough time for photo-stops.
