Wine has been made in Provence for at least 2,600 years, ever since the ancient Greeks founded the city of Marseille in 600 BC. Throughout the region's history, viticulture and winemaking have been influenced by the cultures that have been present in the area. Today, Provence is known predominantly for its rosé wine, which currently accounts for more than half of the production of Provençal wine, but amazing reds and whites can also be found in this wine making region.
On this tailor-made wine tour of Provence, you will learn about the special local classification for its wines - Provence is the only French wine region outside of Bordeaux that has developed a classified ranking for wine estates, about its world famous rosés and their lesser-known reds, which represent about a third of the production, and whites, produced in small quantities throughout the region. While visiting the area, you will enjoy private tours of the Provencal vineyards and wineries, where you will take part in delightful wine tastings. An expert guide will accompany you to share wine tasting techniques and the history of local wines, as well as to answer all of your wine-related questions.
