The estate was founded in the late 17th century when Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan, an influential wine merchant and steward of the prestigious Latour and Margaux estates, bought plots of vines in Pauillac to create Enclos Rauzan. In 1694 the Pichon Longueville estate was founded and it wasn't until 1850 that the property was divided in two: Pichon Baron estate and Pichon Comtesse.
The château, inspired by Renaissance architecture, is an imposing and elegant castle in the vines. Our Grand Vin, classified as a Second Great Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in 1855, is made with grapes from the oldest vines on the estate's historic plots.
Château Pichon Baron welcomes you for tours of the majestic estate and vineyards, guided wine tastings and the opportunity of taking part in a unique vertical tasting of the Grand Vin Château Pichon Baron.
