Château Troplong Mondot, with its 33 ha, is considered to be a large estate, as the majority of the properties in this area are usually no bigger than 10 ha. It sits on the top of a hill at the highest point of the appellation, oriented at the four cardinal points and dominating the surrounding countryside; the gentle southwest slope overlooks the village of Saint-Émilion and the sharp south-facing hill extends to the limits of the valley.

Vineyard management

Since 2007, an ecological study of the plots cultural profile been conducted to restore the biodiversity of the soils, in close collaboration with Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, specialists in sustainable development of soils. The vineyard was accordingly restructured and today, 80% of the property is worked on only with horses.

At Troplong Mondot, a sustainable, original and innovative cultural approach is set up: for decades now, no insecticide nor pesticides have been used.

In 2006, ChâteauTroplong Mondot was promoted to the prestigious rank of First Great Classified Growth in the Saint-Émilion decennial classification.

In 2017, the reinsurance French group SCOR, headed by Denis Kessler, acquires the Château Troplong Mondot and appoints Aymeric de Gironde as CEO.

Wine tourism

In 2010, the first guest rooms are created on the property, and in 2012 the gastronomic restaurant Les Belles Perdrix de Troplong Mondot opened its doors. Its success was immediate.

In 2016, our Chef David Charrier obtained his first Michelin star.
