Enjoy a taste of the finest Etna wines as you take in the breathtaking scenery surrounding Mount Etna volcano

Theme : Visits & Tastings Duration : From 1 to 3 hours Groups : No

Lava flows through the vineyards of Cottanera which, with its vineyards hugging the slopes of Mount Etna volcano, is one of the most interesting realities of the Italian and international oenological landscape. The vines growing on lava stone, 700 meters above sea level, along the northern slopes of the volcano, reflect this unique and rich terroir.

Cottanera wines are born in a mountain environment, characterized by the minerality provided by the volcanic soil. They are elegant, refined and well-balanced wines. Cottanera is natural chemistry, a winemaking science of excellence that the owners of the company like to call "vulcanenology", or volcano enology.

The red grape vines, cultivated by the company, are the indigenous Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio varieties, typical of the Etna wine tradition, and the international varietals Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Mondeuse. The white grape vines are the native Inzolia, Carricante and Catarratto varities and the international varietal Viogner.

Visiting Cottanera is the perfect opportunity to discover how wine is made in such a unique environment. An expert guide will take you round the winery before hosting a tasting of three regional wines- Barbazzale Bianco, Barbazzale Rosso, Etna DOC Rosato- and an exclusive tasting of an Etna Rosso of the select “Contrada” district- Etna Rosso Contrada Diciasettesalme. The experience wouldn't be complete without a gourmet selection of food. Start with mouthwatering home-grown olives and sun-dried tomatoes, accompanied by our very own Cottanera olive oil drizzled on bread baked in a wood-fired oven. Then tuck into a selection of cheese and salami from the local Nebrodi region and a warm starter made with local seasonal products. Drink in the amazing scenery as you entertain your tastebuds with this gourmet treat.
