Viña von Siebenthal

For over two decades Mauro von Siebenthal a Swiss lawyer and wine aficionado dreamed of producing fine wine from the Aconcagua valley which he had identified as the most exciting region in Chile. In 1999, Viña von Siebenthal finally became a reality, and 2002 saw the first wines being bottled.

Today, Viña von Siebenthal is in every one of Chile's top 200 restaurants and is considered the leading boutique winery in this highly dynamic wine nation. The cellar is understated and was designed using the architectural traditions of the Chilean casona (colonial style country mansion). It is designed to accommodate only 600 barrels (75% French 25% American) and an annual production of just 200,000 bottles.

The estate is more akin to the smaller European producer model which combines family home, vineyards, fruits and vegetables production for personal needs, surrounded by carefully tended vines. The vinification process is carried out with meticulous care, one small batch at a time, selecting only the best must. After a long period of cold maceration the grapes are left to their slow and gentle process of fermentation. Once the wine has rested in the barrels for the prescribed period up to 24 months for the top wines it is then bottled with a light filtration. All of the processes are done by hand.
