Activities

The Antinori Family

The Antinori family has been involved in the production of wine for over six centuries, ever since, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori entered as a member the “Arte Fiorentina”, the Winemakers’ Guild of the city of Florence. During this entire long period, through twenty six generations, the family has always directly managed this work with courageous and, at times, innovative decisions, but always maintaining, unaltered, a fundamental respect for tradition and for the territory in which they have operated.

The Antinori Chianti Classico Winery

Antinori Chianti Classico winery, inaugurated on October 25th, 2012, is the family’s tribute to the Chianti Classico region, honoring the family’s historical ties to their ancestral territory. The estate is the only one of its kind in Italy. Unique in design, it was built with natural materials that reflect the hues of the territory, reddish-brown terracotta like the soil itself, natural rustic wood paneling, glass, and corten (a steel and copper alloy) are combined for an essential, visual impact.

The building is integrated into the Chianti hillside, its contours gently sloping, harmoniously, blending into a landscape that is richly cultivated with infinite rows of vineyards. The concept behind the construction of the cellars is the existence of an intimate yet balanced connection with the earth, driven by the desire to reduce overall environmental impact, the cellars incorporate sustainable, efficient, energy saving technologies and architecture.

Antinori’s Chianti Classico Winery is a place where the concept of time is ephemeral, culture and traditions are followed by contemporary ideas and technologies in an undefined succession of time bearing witness to the family’s long standing patronage to the arts which dates back to 1385; painting, sculpture, architecture and the more difficult and mysterious art of transforming fruits of the earth into great wines.
