Real Club de Golf El Prat
This course was designed by famous Australian player Greg Norman, whose 88 wins on the professional circuit made him the world’s number one ranked player for 331 consecutive weeks in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Located in Terrassa, just 22 kilometers outside Barcelona, this award-winning course has become a reference for players around the world thanks to its excellent service and modern clubhouse. The club prides itself on making every stroke a new experience, every tee a photo opportunity.
There’s a course for every player here thanks to a large variety of features: farmland, wooded areas and gentle slopes. It is a medium-distance course with 45 holes which means that there are 9 possible courses to be played without leaving the club. Here you will experience wide fairways, deep bunkers, forgiving roughs and fast greens. There’s lots of fun to be had by amateurs and professionals alike.
Additional fantastic courses of Greg Norman design are the Lumine Lakes, Hills and Ruins fairways, also located close to Barcelona. The Mediterranean surroundings and the beautiful scenery are just what the doctor ordered for maximum relaxation. Whether you are ready for the challenge of the Lakes course, looking to admire the breathtaking views of the Hills fairways or take a peek at the Roman archeological vestiges of the Ruins green, Lumine has a lot of exciting golfing to offer.
Whatever the length of time you plan to spend here, the delights of the surrounding wine regions are waiting for you at the end of each round. South of Barcelona lie the beautiful wine regions of Penedès and Priorat, the perfect places to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Catalan city.
This wine region is particularly well-known for the sparkling wine Cava, but it is also home to some amazing red and white wines and even some delicious sweet wines. There are over 300 wineries to discover, some of them displaying high modernism in their style of architecture, others proud of their unique heritage sites, located in “masias” – traditional farmhouses. The cellars of Penedes are famed for their spirit of innovation, like for example « Bodegas Torres » which offers a wide range of wine tourism and gourmet choices.
This is a smaller but renowned red winemaking region. It attracts the wine lovers among us who have a weak spot for bold red wines. Apart from vines, only olives can thrive here with its ragged mountainous terrain and arid climate. This tiny wine-growing region was given a new lease of life during the 1980’s when a handful of winegrowers decided to reclaim Priorat and set about making some of the most aromatic, brawny red wines you will ever taste. Drink up the sun-dried fruit, the black cherries and the liquorice.
