ONE FAMILY, ONE SOIL, ONE STORY

It was in 1998 that Jacqueline and Jean-Jacques Sioen, Belgian industrialists, fell under the spell of La Marzelle. Our seventeen hectares (in a single block) are situated on the upper-terrace of Saint-Émilion. Our three grapevarities: Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are cultivated on an exceptional natural capital. The family Sioen has put their passion and know-how at the service of the estate. Since the purchase of Château La Marzelle, and with the philosophy that "only healthy grapes are the basis of a great wine", the Sioen family have gone to great lengths to revive the vineyards of their splendid estate.

With a drive for transformation, embodied by major work on the buildings, a renewal of the equipment and a qualitative restructuring of the vineyard, the hoped-for results have been forthcoming. In 2008, La Marzelle began cultivating its vines organically, like a garden, and biodynamically since 2015. This constant concern to preserve and restore the ecosystem was formalised in 2020 with the organic certification.

Today, the third generation, grandson Jean-Charles Joris, is writing the next chapter in the history of Château La Marzelle.
