Locals extract the salt from the seawater following the same procedure used by the ancient Greeks and Phoenicians who once colonized this part of the Sicily. You will visit the windmills used to move the salt through the pans and enjoy lunch with a magnificent view of the sea. Then you will arrive at the Tenuta Gorghitondi one of the most fascinating wine estates in Sicily, located within the WWT Nature Reserve since 1998.
Annamaria and Carla Sala are the third generation that caries through the traditions and the passion for winemaking and earth. Being part of the WWF Nature Reserve the land where the Tenuta is built is a clear example of a unique, harmonious and complete balance between natural landscape and winemaking.
At Tenuta Gorghi Tondi winemaking becomes an artful combination of understanding the earth and being able to use the latest technology and tools. It is a truly remarkable cooperation between the human knowledge and the power of nature.
The area and the climate contribute to create unique, awarded wines like Grillo d'Oro, a white wine made from Grillo grapes affected by Botrytis Cinerea or Sorante, a 100% Nero d'Avola wine with heraldic name. Enjoy a lunch at Winery.
