Facing climatic challenges, some wineries have decided to go green. Biodynamic farming is one of the most common ways of doing so. Biodynamic is “a spiritual-ethical-ecological approach to agriculture, gardens, food production, and nutrition,” according to the Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Association. Biodynamic wine is produced using a set of agricultural techniques that treat the vineyard as a single entity. Each part of the vineyard works together to make the ecosystem work.

Biodynamic winery or Green winery has the goal to develop a self-contained system. The vineyard is sustained by natural materials, soils, and composts. For the purpose of soil fertility, chemical fertilizers and pesticides are prohibited. Animals and insects are involved to enrich the biodiversity of the terroir, resulting in a lush, fruitful environment for the vines to flourish in.

The ultimate goal of Green Luxury wineries is to leave the property in the same or better condition as they found it for future generations.
