She will tell you all you need to know: from the growing of the grapes to the wine making and bottling process. You will hike past some of the big names of the region -your guide will be happy to give you the history and the stories as you walk by.
A neighboring property of Six Senses Douro Valley has a well-kept secret that we are now unveiling to our guests: in a cellar on top of the mountain that overlooks the hotel, huge wooden vats are the cocoons for ageing Ports, some over 100 years Old. Hints of caramel, nuts and dried fruits perfume the cellar and its color transforms from bright red to shades of gold and tints of green. This experience starts with a walk up the hill through the vineyard, that leads up to a cool wine cellar with ageing Ports.
Your day will be kept active, exploring Stellenbosch from a quirky perspective as you explore the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve on two wheels before delving deeper into the heart of Stellenbosch on foot to learn about the history of this Cape Dutch Town. Lunch will be enjoyed at one of the favorite local spots such as at De Warenmarkt, situated in a cherished 18th century historical building at the heart of Stellenbosch’s vibrant cultural district. In late afternoon, you will have a Cheese & Wine Tasting with a beautiful views of the Simonsberg Mountain range.
Hiking & tapas at Château Boutinet! Meet with the owners of the property around wine and tapas prepared using only local produce. Have someone guide you through the vineyard, explaining the different works that take place in them. Meantime, they will prepare the tapas that you will enjoy, paired with the property's wines.
