Château De Jalesnes rises out of the moat on great stone foundations and it offers truly unique accommodation overlooking the Château's forest, garden and pool.
The Château has 14 suites from one to two-bedroom apartments and each apartment has a kitchen that includes a stove, oven, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge and freezer. You will also have access to the pool, picnic area, bar, BBQ, moat, caves, salons, library, chapel and a terrace, which are available for all guests.
The suite is a self-catering unit, so a cleaning service is provided only once a week. A washer/dryer is in the suite. Should additional cleaning or laundry service be required, it can be offered at a cost. Payment for these services is to be made at the time of occupancy.
Château de Jalesnes has a long and interesting history. The first owner was Marquis de Jalesnes, revered by his workers, who saved his life in the French Revolution. The Château has passed through the hands of several noble and illustrious families: it became the temporary royal apartment of Dom Carlos, the grandson of exiled Don Carlos VII of Bourbon, and a claimant to the Spanish throne. In honor of his stay, the Château expansion included a grand staircase, construction of a theatre, and landscaping additions.
An interesting feature of the Château is the deep moat surrounding it, with several caves adjacent to the moat. Over time, the Château fell into disrepair, but in 2015, it underwent a complete restoration such that it now proudly reflects its past glory. The extensive Château grounds also received a total makeover.
Guests can pre-order continental breakfast, pre-order picnic with wine, pre-order groceries to stock suite, and pre-order chef to prepare dinner in your room, among other extras. We can also organize for a local wine master to meet with you at the Château to discuss and taste local wines.
