No other Aussie city has so much on offer, so close at hand. Spend a few hours exploring inner Melbourne’s rich urban labyrinth, its stunning local boutiques, buzzing lanes and hidden treasures. Taste fresh cheese in Little Italy, visit local galleries and bizarre businesses in eclectic bohemian villages, and all before lunch.
Take a short and beautifully scenic drive to the Yarra Valley, one of Australia’s oldest and most attractive wine regions. This area is especially known for pinots and chardonnays; in other words, plenty of bubbles to go with the delicious local produce on offer for lunch.
Finish the day with a visit to Healesville Sanctuary, a bushland haven for native wildlife. You might like to feed the kangaroos or take the dingoes for a walk before you leave. Drive home in the fading light – dusk is a magical time in the lush Victorian countryside. Be back in Melbourne in time to get ready for dinner. The city boasts many of Australia’s best restaurants. Ask your guide for a recommendation on the way home.
