Its aromas vanish very quickly, sadly within a few short days. Therefore the only way to taste high-quality gourmet truffles is to find and eat them within a day or two.
Other truffles such as the black summer truffle can be hunted in the summer months, as well as the scorzone truffle, so happily the Tuscan truffle hunting tour is available year-round. Our truffle hunt is an exciting and memorable experience, a sacred yet secretive ritual rarely witnessed by outsiders, and a most special way to see Tuscany from a different perspective. This is a wonderful experience to include in your Italian vacation, and an event you can relive each time you taste these wonderful gourmet treats.
Your truffle-hunting day will start early in the morning, in the Tuscan Crete Senesi, among Italy's most important and prolific truffle-growing areas. Your local, professional truffle hunter and English interpreter (accompanied of course by the truffle dog) will meet you in the morning and accompany you on silent paths through the crisp, misty morning air of the Crete. You will look, listen, and learn, and in the end, you will almost certainly find the precious tuber, a moment of great excitement. The truffle hunt lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
It will then be time to move onwards to the farm and wine cellar for a tasting of local products and a guided sensory analysis of the black and white truffle. Lunch at the farm is available upon request at an extra charge of Euro 30 to 60 per person depending on which type of truffle will be featured in your meal. Please inquire with us for more information.
