The best of Sonoma valley wine is waiting to be discovered by you on an exclusive wine vacation in the beautiful countryside of California

At a 45-minute drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, Sonoma County is a haven for the traveler. This world-renowned vineyard region offers nearly 425 wineries - from castles and the wine estates equipped with the most modern technologies to simple, rustic tasting rooms. The roads are lined with vineyards organically and sustainably grown, with some even certified biodynamic.

To the west of Napa County, separated by the Mayacamas Mountains, Sonoma wine country rivals its neighbor with renowned wines that are increasingly popular internationally. Slowly creeping out of the shadow of its popular cousin wine region with a fleet of respected wineries and award-wining wines, Sonoma wine valley hosts well-known names such as AVA Russian River Valley, AVA Alexander Valley or AVA Dry Creek Valley.

The geographical peculiarities and the topography of the region gives the wine its characteristic flavor and depth. Depending on the climatic condition in the wine region of the Sonoma Valley wine country, different grape varieties are planted in different areas. The regions closest to the oceanic coast, cooler and prone to maritime fog, are home to vineyards of Burgundy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties. These produce the best California chardonnays. The Pinot Noir is light and fruity thanks to the high altitude of the vineyards that help the grapes find the perfect balance between the acidity and alcohol. To the east in the Sonoma Valley, the slopes and valleys facing the sun have Bordeaux grapes and Zinfandel. This grape variety of Zinfandel, is famous for producing the popular Zinfandel rose wine of California. The hottest areas are forced to grow the grapes at altitude to temper the heat.

The Sonoma wine valley produces Pinot Noirs with ripe red fruits, a dark color and a striking fruitiness. The Chardonnays are fine with mineral notes while the Cabernets Sauvignons are robust and velvety. Zinfandel in the Dry Creek Valley is known for its blackberry and pepper flavors and good acidity.
