The history of Château La Dominique dates back to the late sixteenth century, when the existence of a vineyard, lying between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, was first recorded. Ranked as “Grand Cru Classé” in the first Saint-Émilion classification in 1955, Château La Dominique has consistently maintained its position.
The Fayat family became part of the château’s history in 1969. They were keen to make something of the property they had acquired and invested time and energy in what was still, at the time, a « maison de maître » surrounded by a vineyard with great potential. In 2014, Château La Dominique inaugurated its new cellar, designed by Jean Nouvel, which is inspired by an interpretation of the pleasure of wine tasting with 6 tints of red. Due to an optical effect of the façade, made up of a huge two-way mirror, vineyard and vat-room meld into a single place, one appearing to merge into the other. La Terrasse Rouge, the Château’s restaurant, is on the roof terrace, covered with red pebbles, which affords fabulous views over the vineyards.
