“Inspired by the past, built for the future”
Chateau TrotteVieille was classified Premier Cru in 1955 during the first classification of the Saint-Emilion crus and has always been aware of the responsibility of both the Saint-Emilion name and this classification. For Philippe Casteja and his family, their commitment to Chateau TrotteVieille is to uphold the weight of tradition while looking to the future. Today, they are demonstrating this commitment through the construction of new cellars, fermenting tooms, a tasting room and the renovation programme for the 17th century stone charterhouse and its surrounding.
The Bordeaux architect Christope Massie, known for his work at Château Palmer, Pontet Canet, Lynch-Moussas and Château Larrivet Haut Brion in particular, has been chosen for the renovation project at the Trotte-Vieille estate, one of the oldest in Saint-Émilion.
During your visit, you will have the opportunity to discover the vats rooms, a barrel cellar for ageing barrels buried in the ground next to an area for visiting the underground quarries, a cellar, tasting rooms, the GalileOak sphere, unique in the region, dedicated to the vinification of pre-phylloxera Very Old Vines and much more.
Château Trotte-Vieille wanted to give itself the means of an exceptional wine with an architectural and technological project.
