L’Envers du Décor, Saint-Emilion’s first wine bar, was created in 1987 by François des Ligneris and acquired in February 2017 by the Perse family, owners of Château Pavie and the Hostellerie de Plaisance. Over the years, l’Envers du Décor has become a Saint-Emilion classic and one of the village’s best-known restaurants.
With a typical bistro decoration, l'Envers du Décor is the best place to discover the casual French cuisine. You will also enjoy the serenity of our garden for an inviting moment of calm. Located at the rear of the restaurant, the shaded terrace rests along the walls of the village’s Collegiate Church. Savor the pleasure of this site, away from the bustle of the village in the very heart of Saint-Emilion.
Our chef creates a cuisine based on the seasonal market, exclusively using fresh, carefully-selected products and focusing on local producers. The menu showcases the dishes which have made the restaurant’s reputation, like prime rib, lamb shoulder, and Grand Marnier soufflé. The pastries, like the breads, are made on site.
The head sommelier has selected wines from the most talented producers throughout Bordeaux and the world’s other great vineyard regions. Wine lovers and professionals alike can choose from more than 500 selections, and an assortment of wines by the glass.
