COMO Castello Del Nero, Tuscany, is a 740-acre, historic estate in the world-famous Chianti wine region of Italy — and COMO’s first property in continental Europe, offering the same precise service, therapeutic wellness experiences and exceptional food established by the brand in its twenty-year history. The Renaissance cities of Florence and Siena are both within a 30-minute drive, with the wider destination opened up for guests, from hiking to biking to carefully guided cultural excursions. At the property’s heart stands a twelfth-century Castello featuring 50 rooms and suites with interiors by Milanese designer, Paola Navone. While the Castello’s historic terracotta flooring, fresco walls and vaulted ceilings remain untouched, Navone has introduced a light and modern ‘COMO’ aesthetic, to complement and enhance the period architecture of the Castello, without losing any of the deeply authentic historic texture. Cuisine is also a key element of the hotel experience. The Michelin-starred La Torre restaurant is located in the original stables of the Castello in the winter, transferring to the garden terrace in summer. All menus are overseen by Executive Chef, Giovanni Luca Di Pirro. Menus showcase gourmet Italian cuisine, using the finest Tuscan produce, much of it from the estate’s kitchen-garden. The estate has its own vineyard, beehives and olive groves. It is literally ‘farm to table’, with the garden carefully overseen by Di Pirro. There is also an informal restaurant, Pavilion, which offers all-day dining overlooking the spectacular hills, vineyards and olive groves that the estate is known for, and bar and wine cellar, La Taverna, where COMO mixologists are ready to give every drink a modern twist, from Martinis to Prosecco cocktails. In addition, there are tennis courts and a heated outdoor swimming pool. For wellness, guests can visit COMO Shambhala Retreat, which offers complimentary morning yoga, therapeutic massages and expert guidance in holistic wellness.
