This tailor-made tour is ideal for sparkling wines lovers as it provides wonderful insight into the origins of Champagne, arguably France's most famous wine.
Start your journey of bubbles-discovery in Hautvillers, home to Dom Pérignon for years. Here, as you walk in his footsteps, you will learn about this recognized Benedictine monk's life and role in the birth of Champagne. Pérignon served as cellarer at the Abbaye Saint-Pierre d’Hautvillers for most of his adult life. Under his stewardship, the abbey flourished and doubled the size of its vineyard holdings, while he worked to improve their product. When he died in 1715, as a sign of honor and respect, he was buried in a section of the abbey cemetery traditionally reserved only for abbots: the nave of the Saint Peter's Abbey. You will visit his final resting place and discover the many achievements of one of Champagne's most celebrated names.
Follow in Dom Périgon's footsteps a bit further, in Epernay this time... During a private tour of the Champagne Dom Pérignon winery, you will have the opportunity to enter the House's magnificent cellars, located underneath the prestigious Avenue de Champagne. Your visit will end with a glass of Dom Pérignon in the refined setting of a private salon, in the company of an expert oenologist.
A fantastic opportunity to learn about the most iconic character in Champagne's history.
