May 24, 1976 is a date that went down in California wine history. It was the day that a blind tasting held in Paris, later to be named the "Judgment of Paris", changed the world’s view of California wines forever. The idea was to see how the best California wines would fare against French wines made from the same grape varieties. Against all odds, a Californian Cabernet Sauvignon outshone the top-ranked Bordeaux wines presented at the tasting. Though hardly publicized at the time, this was definitely an event that changed the playing field in the wine world.
We are offering you the exclusive opportunity to take part in an unforgettable wine tasting experience. When tasting wine, it is extremely important to compare - either different vintages or different wines within the same winery. Here you will enjoy winery horizontal or vertical tastings, or unravel the secrets to the winemaking process during intimate tastings with winemakers.
All will be revealed during a unique tasting of older California Cabernets as you learn what made them stand out in 1976. You will gain insight into the aging potential of the wines of the New World as you sip wines from the first California vintages of the 70s and 80s.
