Guidelines for the perfect Chile wine vacation

Chile is shaped very peculiarly. With a long coastline and almost negligible breadth, the country is flanked by the tall Andes on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. From the hotter and drier northern regions to the cooler and wetter southern areas, the climate difference plays a significant role in the changing styles of wines produced here.

The northern region of Coquimbo Valley, Atacama and Aconcagua are very well-known and some of their wines have been compared to those made from famous appellations of Bordeaux, France. The Central Valley has some celebrated regions as well, including Maipo Valley, Maule Valley Colchagua and Curico Valley just next to the iconic capital city of Santiago. The southern region is home to the Bio-Bio and Itata Valleys known as the cooler wine regions producing refreshing whites and light red wines.

The country produces some of the best Cabernet Sauvignons, high-quality Syrahs and traditional Carménères, Chile’s flagship grape. But in recent times, it has also started producing some superb white wines with Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Embarking on one of our Chile wine country tours could also see you tasting some Pinot Noirs produced from the cooler areas of the country.

From big commercial wineries producing millions of bottles for export to small boutique wineries, Chile wine tasting sessions promise to show you the best of both worlds.
