After buying Finca La Libertad, a vineyard with more than 130 years old vines, planted by his great grandfather Tiburcio Benegas, Federico Benegas Lynch bought the winery building, a facility built in 1900, located in Lujan de Cuyo. It was completely restored respecting the 19th century architecture and incorporating the most up-to-date technology. Its impressive underground cellar is 8 meters deep with stone walls, keeping the perfect condition for aging our wines in French Oak barrels, with a 3° delta in temperature between winter and summer in the room.
From the beginning Federico aimed at high quality wines. Thus, he acquired Finca La Encerrada, a 40-hectare (175 acre) farm located in the Uco Valley, in the highest part of the district of Gualtallary, Tupungato, at 1450 m.a.s.l. (4750 ft). Gualtallary is considered nowadays the “Diamond of Uco Valley”.
We are committed to protecting the environment for future generations. Our winery and Finca Libertad are in the process of certifying Sustainable Agricultural Practices. Finca La Encerrada is in the process of certifying Organic Agricultural Practices.
The style of the Benegas wines is marked by its complexity and elegance, always looking to express the characteristics of each terroir and varietal, with delicate use of the oak, adding complexity while keeping the fruit identity of the grape.
These are well-balanced wines with good acidity and are pleasant and agreeable in the mouth, with a long and memorable aftertaste. Wines that make a beautiful experience of every moment.
The contribution of the French oak and a long evolution in the bottle provide ripe, sweet and rounded tannins achieving a stable continuity across all the production as well as ensuring a long life for the wines.
