Nino Negri founded the winery in 1897. The estate is located in Valtellina, in the extreme North of Italy. The valley is surrounded by mountains, resulting in a terroir that is unique and challenging for wine-growers; with the Nebbiolo growing in terraced terrains on bedrock at the foot of the Alps .
Nino Negri winery is one of the oldest estates in the Valtellina valley with some parts of the Quadrio Castle dating back to the 15th century. The winery owns some of the best single vineyards in the most prestigious vine-growing areas of Valtellina. The winemaking tradition of this estate has been perfected over time, allowing Nino Negri to produce elegant wines that can age for quite a long time. One of the most notable wines produced at the estate is the Sfursat: an outstanding wine made with Nebbiolo grapes that go through a natural drying process of 3 months in the cold Alpine winds.
