The Marqués de Riscal gastronomic restaurant is perhaps the building’s single most impressive space. The soaring walls painted a lush claret red are picked out with bright contemporary artworks: the massive windows in their angular shapes bring in light and views.

Partly thanks to its widely spaced tables, the room achieves an elegant intimacy despite its huge dimensions (and the raised corner table gives an added degree of privacy for a special celebration).
