Founded in 1848, Logis de la Cadène is one of the oldest restaurants in Saint-Emilion and over time has become a true institution revered by passing visitors as well as regular locals.
This family-run restaurant has played a very intimate part in the history of Saint-Emilion. It had always been a favourite of the Boüard de Laforest family living in nearby Château Angélus since 1782, and they ended up acquiring it in the summer of 2013.
Alexandre Baumard is the restaurant's talented chef: he learned his craft in a number of fine establishments, including those of Paul Bocuse and Christophe Bacquié, before rising to the challenge of his first chef’s position at Logis de la Cadène.
For dessert lovers, pastry chef Damien Amilien is very inventive and commands his craft with great poise.
In February 2017, three years after the restaurant was taken over by Angélus, the Michelin Guide awarded its first star to the Logis de la Cadène.
