Get ready for a fantastic day out combining some exercise and a well-deserved relaxing time -wine glass in hand at an urban vineyard to unwind!
Hike the route of the original explorers to the top of the Front Table:
The trail offers spectacular views all the way to the top with Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head flanking Table Mountain on either side. Take time to marvel at the views over Table Bay, Robben Island, Signal Hill and the city of Cape Town, while also admiring the fynbos (the indigenous vegetation) and the awesome rock face of the gorge.
At the top of the Platteklip Gorge, a 10- minute walk takes you to the cableway where you will have plenty of time to take in the unrivalled panorama – look down onto the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay and south towards the Cape Peninsula and the majestic Twelve Apostles.
There are normally a few friendly dassies (rock hyrax) to photograph before we take a ride in the revolving cable car back to the starting point.
Afterwards, head to Clos d’Oranje Vineyard, one of the only existing vineyards in the City Bowl, where a sommelier will introduce you to the uniqueness of an urban vineyard and take you through a tasting of their Cap Classique and limited production wines. After having worked up an appetite, enjoy a delicious gourmet picnic.
