Did you know Champagne was a perfect food wine? With the advice of local sommeliers, you will discover the wonderful pairing of food and Champagne.
You will be spoilt for choice for where to dine as the region has numerous Michelin-starred restaurants. We will work with you to create a unique gourmet trip, each day visit a different Champagne house and each evening a different restaurant, from two to four days or more this tour will be organised to suit you.
Start your discovery of Champagne with a visit to the prestigious Champagne House Ruinart. This breath taking tour of the underground cellars will introduce you to the complexity of Champagne and why it works so well with so many different foods. The proof will be in a private tasting lunch at the cellars where wines from the house will be specifically paired with dishes to show both to their best advantage.
During the afternoon discover other local specialties of Reims; the biscuit rose and the local cheeses and mustards. La Maison Fossier is home to the traditional pink Champagne de Reims biscuits, where you can join a cooking class to learn how to make some of the most delicious French patisseries yourself.
Your hotel for the stay is the brand new Hotel Royal Champagne, easily accessible for both Reims and Epernay. Choose to dine from the two restaurants within the hotel; the Michelin star Le Royal or the more relaxed Bellevue.
After breakfast overlooking the vineyards, spend the morning working up an appetite in the beautiful pool, stroll or cycle through the vineyards surrounding this ultra modern, luxuriously appointed hotel.
Then head to Epernay for a light lunch in a local restaurant and stroll up the avenue de Champagne to admire some of the leading houses.
Heading back toward the hotel, stop off in the picturesque village of Ay and then go to Champagne Philiponnat to discover the history, and the wines, of this producer that has remained in the same family for 5 generations.
On your final evening you will celebrate your new Champagne knowledge with the Michelin chef of the hotel at the Chefs Table in the bustling kitchens. This is a unique opportunity to see how a Michelin star restaurant really works while tasting their specialities - all accompanied by the finest wines from Champagne.
