Words do not do justice to the beauty of Provence. Take a moment to contemplate the paintings of some of the famous artists of the region -Cézanne for example. Admire the lavish color of the lavender fields, the pine forests, the olive groves and, of course, the vines. Provence isn't a place you can just talk about, you have to go and see it for yourself, breathe in the fragrances, taste the flavours.
The wines of the region are also a wonderful reflection of the beauty of Provence: red, white or rosé, they are an explosion of color and aromas. Provence is the main producer in France for Rosé wine. Consumption of rosé wine has tripled in the past 25 years! Rosé wine-lovers generally have a soft spot for the rosé wines of Provence which are refreshing, fruity and aromatic. The vineyards of Provence stretch from the south of Avignon to Nice, in the southeast of France. The region benefits from a whole host of different geological and climatic conditions; though the Mediterranean climate is dominant there are areas where the temperatures are cooler and others where the wind has a major influence. This explains why the region has many different grape varieties and styles of wine. Which in turn means interesting wine tasting experiences!
The region is overflowing with places to visit and things to do. Aix-en-Provence invites you to travel in time -every fountain has its secrets, every house its story. Wander the streets in the old part of town and admire the baroque architecture. The Alpilles are an enchanting natural spot northwest of Aix-en Provence. The panoramic view takes in the Mont Ventoux in the Cévennes to the Sainte Victoire mountain in the Camargue. From there you can visit the citadel of Baux de Provence or the archeological sites of Saint-Rémy de Provence. And there is much more to discover!
